Up and coming star Dee Jay Paladrino Conquistadero recently layed down an interesting vibe in the popular underground Zine ‘Pretty Boy DJ Bitch’. Here’s the quote “…there was a time when a DJ’s sets of Edit’s, White Labels, Cassette re-rubs and souped up double-flanged-bangers were highly guarded protected secrets within DJ peer groups and circles. The playlist being the culmination of hours of crate digging in records shops—hours unaccounted for—special one off finds and rarities. The end result was the special mix of music that no-one else could attain because they did not have the unique mix of secrets—which were—the names of the artists and remixes and white labels which required work to find…”

And further.

“…check out documentary’s like ‘Scratch’ where talk of competition, and protection of record/label/artist identity was discussed and accepted norm amongst DJ peers.
